Hi Cranford Fans-
In case you miss the news in another thread...
I'm happy to report that "Cranford 2" will be coming to Masterpiece Classic in 2010.
From our Masterpiece Classic webpage (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/classic/index.html):
++
More great change is set for the small Cheshire town of Cranford in Cranford 2, a 3-hour program featuring many of the beloved original cast including Judi Dench, Imelda Staunton, Francesca Annis and Julia McKenzie. Cranford 2 picks up the story in 1844. New faces coming to the close-knit town include Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean), Tom Hiddleston (Wallander), and Tim Curry (Spamalot). Based on the novels by Elizabeth Gaskell, Cranford 2 is written by Heidi Thomas (I Capture the Castle, Madame Bovary).
++
Note that contrary to some previously published reports, "Cranford 2" will be two 90-minute episodes. Also, not even an actress as good as Eileen Atkins can rise from the dead: Miss Deborah Jenkyns, the character portrayed so vividly by Miss Atkins, died in the second episode of the original "Cranford" miniseries.
We're thinking about web features for "Cranford 2" and would love your input. What would you like to know more about from the world of Cranford? We appreciate your thoughts. Also, if you have other questions about "Cranford 2," let me know and I'll see if I can get some answers and post them here.

| Hmm... I think everyone would be interested in behind the scenes commentary by cast and crew. I'd love to know more about the locations and scenic elements. Also information about what material of Gaskell's all the different story lines have come from in regards to this installment especially. That has been heavily discussed and hotly debated across the internet. |
