First of all, while this Helen is more likeable, I think she is horribly dressed- no style or is that just a cultural difference? Do the British viewers think she looked nice? ( i am asking seriously). Then.\, I know its just a TV show, but couldn't the BBC sprung to have Lynleys mother and siblings- not to mention Helen's sister who we saw in another episode show up at the funeral!!And who drives himself home from his own wife's funeral? To be honest, I think both the book and the TV show had the same problem- needing to do something with the Helen relationship but having gotten them together the plot line loses tension. It seems like married works if the characters start out married. I didn't care for the book in which Helen got killed but the ending was very poignant as it had Havers feeling left out as Lynley goes home and is meet by his sister.
