| A bird flu is quickly sweeping through Asia and Europe, and it is very dangerous to, well, birds. What we don’t know is if it will be dangerous to humans, since the virus has not yet mutated to become easily transmissible from person to person. If it does mutate, some public health authorities predict it has the potential to kill millions. Does the difference between global disaster and a near miss hang on a few letters of genetic code? Do you think we should be doing more to prepare for a flu pandemic, or are the risks being overstated? |
